The 2012 college football season is almost here and that means the Bulls Football Report is finally underway here at QCS.
The Bulls Football Report will go over everything you need to know regarding UB football. We’ll have game previews, scouting reports and recaps every week as well as your latest Bulls football news.
It’s finally here everybody! UB Football is only a few days from getting underway as the Bulls are doing their final preparations before heading down to Athens to take on the 6th ranked Georgia Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs are one of the top teams in the country and display a wealth of talent on both sides of the ball.
Last year, Georgia went 10-4 as they had a good but not great season by their standards but they enter 2012 hoping for more.
After losing their first two games in 2011 to Boise State and South Carolina, the Bulldogs went on to win their next 10 straight before falling in the SEC Championship Game to LSU and losing in three overtime’s to Michigan State in the Outback Bowl.
This year, Georgia returns a plethora of talent but it all starts at quarterback with junior Aaron Murray.
Murray, in his 3rd season as the Bulldogs starting quarterback is one of the best quarterbacks in the country and has shown flashes of brilliance during his two years in Athens.
Last season, Murray threw for 3,149 yards, 35 touchdowns and 14 interceptions on his way to being named 2nd Team All-SEC.
Don’t be surprised to see Murray throwing a ton early in order to try to exploit UB’s defense.
When passing, one of Murray’s favorite targets is senior Tavarres King. The 5th year senior had a breakout season in 2011, catching 47 passes for 705 yards and 8 touchdowns.
King has been listed on the Bulldogs injury list but if good to go, should be a threat for Georgia.
In the backfield, Georgia will be forced to start Ken Malcombe after 2011 SEC Freshman of the Year running back Isaiah Crowell was kicked off the team following his arrest during the summer.
Malcombe didn’t play much last year but did show flashes towards the end of the season as he finished with 174 yards rushing on 42 attempts.
Defensively, Georgia looks to be solid again in 2012 as they return many key players from last year’s 4th ranked scoring defense in the SEC.

The top man returning is Jarvis Jones who has more than made a name for himself during his time in Athens.
Jones, a First Team All-American in 2011 had a tremendous season last year and will give the Bulls offensive line fits.
The dominant Jones had 13.5 sacks, 19.5 tackles for loss and 70 total tackles last season alone.
In the secondary, UB catches a break in the fact that Safety Barcarri Rambo will be absent from Saturday’s contest due to a four-game suspension he’s serving for drug-related infractions.
Other players that Bulls fans should look out for on the Bulldogs defense include Michael Gilliard and Shawn Williams.
Looking at Georgia’s lineup, it’s definitely not hard to figure out why they’re ranked so highly in all of the preseason polls this season.
The Bulldogs are not only one of the top teams in their conference but one of the top teams in the country.
If UB is to stay competitive on Saturday, they’ll need to play a game for the ages as they are taking on a legitimate national title contender in their house in what looks like to be a very tough opening game for the Bulls.
