Weber returns to practice, Ehrhoff and Myers still out

The Sabres got a sliver of good news when they hit the ice Monday for their morning practice, Defensemen Mike Weber was back on the ice participating and could play tomorrow night against Toronto.

However, two names still not practice are Tyler Myers (foot) and Christian Ehrhoff (knee), Buffalo’s two most important defenders.

If neither of those two can go tomorrow night, it’s expected that McNabb will be the one to dress if Weber plays as well. Nonetheless, not having your two best blue liners in the most crucial point of the season is obviously huge.

If the Sabres want to win out and make the playoffs, then they have a to find a way to make up for their losses.

For example, they need a line other than the Ennis, Foligno, Stafford line to produce goals. If they are going to simply rely on one unit, then they can kiss the postseason goodbye.

Before the final stretch run started, I said Buffalo was going to have to go 4-2 to make the playoffs. Well now they’re 1-2 in the home stretch, and have games against Boston and Philly coming up this weekend. If Buffalo wants to make the playoffs they will have to bully the big guns come Friday and Saturday.

But first, they need to take care of a Leafs team they shouldn’t have lost to on Saturday.
